(French) Canada's Food Guide put to the Test: 5 Years Later

The release of the new Canada’s Food Guide in 2019 marked a major turning point in how Canada approaches nutrition and food choices. Five years on, Sylvain Charlebois, Director of the Agri-Food Analytics Lab at Dalhousie University, offers a thorough reflection on its actual impact on consumers’ eating habits. This conference will examine observed changes in food preferences, food purchasing, and Canadian eating behaviors since the publication of the new Food Guide. He will also discuss the challenges and opportunities facing the agri-food industry in meeting new consumer expectations for health. Drawing on empirical data, we will analyze how the Canada’s Food Guide has influenced (or not) consumers’ perceptions of healthy eating, local and sustainable foods, and the environmental impact of their food choices.
