SoSIAL Program

Fighting Food Waste

SoSIAL is a program dedicated to reducing food waste and helping people in need.
Through this initiative, all food products are collected and stored at the end of the show,
then redistributed locally to various community organizations.
Each year, SIAL Canada partners with Moisson Montréal and the Daily Bread Food Bank.

Did you know?
For every visitor registration to the 2026 show,
SIAL Canada will donate $5 to Moisson Montréal
to support access to quality food for people in vulnerable situations.

SIAL Canada also collaborates with Drive Away Hunger,
an initiative from the agricultural and agri-food industry that helps
distribute the food we produce to those who need it most.

About Moisson Montréal

Moisson Montréal is the largest food bank in Canada. Since 1984, the organization has been recovering, sorting, and distributing food free of charge to nearly 300 accredited community agencies across the island of Montréal. Together, these agencies respond to more than one million requests for food assistance every month.

At the heart of a vast network of solidarity, Moisson Montréal works in close collaboration with the food industry, local producers, volunteers, and numerous partners to fight food waste and strengthen sustainable food security.

Each year, nearly 24 million kilograms of food are redistributed, helping to improve the lives of hundreds of thousands of Montrealers. Thanks to its efficient operational model, every dollar donated enables the redistribution of the equivalent of $15 in food, maximizing the impact of the community’s generosity.

About Drive Away Hunger

Partner of SIAL Montréal 2026

As a partner of the Drive Away Hunger program,
SIAL Canada supports a national initiative led by the agricultural and agri-food industry
to help fight food insecurity across Canada.

The program collects food and monetary donations from businesses across the country
and redistributes them to food banks and community organizations.
It also encourages the sharing of resources and knowledge to expand the reach of donations
and reduce food waste.

In 2024, Drive Away Hunger helped provide 514 million meals to Canadians in need.
