International Cheese Competition

New at the show: International Cheese Competition by SIAL Canada

The International Cheese Competition by SIAL is the very first international cheese competition in Canada! It comes from the desire to present the innovation and expertise of cheese makers and share this passion with the world.

Following its success in 2019 in Toronto with a presentation of 229 cheeses from 9 countries, SIAL Canada welcomes you in April 2022 for its second edition of the international cheese competition.

A jury chaired by Gurth M. Pretty, will be accompanied by cheese industry professionals who will evaluate the cream of the crop of cheesemakers and award a gold medal to the best cheeses from the 28 selected categories. The competition is open to cheeses of all types of milk, whether or not they are exhibitors at SIAL Canada.

Why participate?

The champions will be awarded "Best of Show!" at a dedicated ceremony in the Cheese by SIAL pavilion. Cheese winners will benefit from international visibility and coverage through our media and the SIAL network.

A Word From The Jury President

International Cheese Competition in 4 steps


Step 1

This competition is open to all cheeses displayed or not at SIAL Canada. 

Entry fee of $55 to $140 CDN per submitted cheese.


Step 2

Complete the application form before March 1st, 2022 with a copy of its national brand label including its ingredients and nutritional information for each submitted cheese.


Step 3

Deliver your cheeses at the Palais des Congrès of Montral on the required date.


Step 4

The winners will be revealed on April 20th and 21st at the SIAL Canada show!
