Sylvain Charlebois est professeur titulaire à la Faculté de management à l’Université Dalhousie à Halifax (Canada). Il est aussi le Directeur scientifique de l’Institut des sciences analytiques en agroalimentaire, de la même université.

 

Son domaine de recherche et d’expertise englobe la distribution, la sécurité et la salubrité alimentaires. Il est l’un des experts les plus cité quant à la chaîne d’approvisionnement, la chaîne de valeur agroalimentaire et la traçabilité grâce à la publication de plus de 775 article scientifiques révisés par des pairs. Dr. Charlebois est également éditeur pour la prestigieuse revue Trends in Food Science Technology. Il est co-animateur du balado The Food Professor (anglais seulement) discutant des sujets de l’heure des industries de l’alimentation, de la restauration, de l’épicerie et de la restauration. Chaque année depuis 2012, il publie le désormais très attendu Rapport sur les prix alimentaires au Canada, qui donne un aperçu des tendances des prix alimentaires pour l’année à venir. De plus, depuis près de 20 ans, il contribue régulièrement aux pages éditoriales du Globe and Mail et de La Presse comme expert dans le domaine agroalimentaire. Ses recherches et commentaires sont publiées par les plus importants journaux et revues du Québec, du Canada et du monde. Il a témoigné à plusieurs reprises en tant que témoin expert devant des commissions parlementaires sur des questions liées à la politique agroalimentaire. On lui a demandé d’agir comme conseiller sur les politiques alimentaires et agricoles dans de nombreuses provinces canadiennes et autres pays.

Farm Manager

Shawn Woods is Farm Manager at GoodLeaf Farms’ Research and Development farm in Truro, Nova Scotia. Originally from Nova Scotia, Shawn attended Saint Mary’s University, after graduating with a Bachelor of Commerce he accepted a position with Scotiabank moving to Ontario, and over his 15-year banking career held variety of roles. After leaving the bank to focus full-time on his role as co-founder at ‘Futurescape Corporation’ he was fortunate to travel extensively across Canada evaluating new technologies. While backpacking through Southeast Asia in 2016 and seeing the value farmers brought to small villages he decided to relocate back home to Nova Scotia and try his hand at sustainable food production.
