Eco-responsible (sustainable) packaging: When perception takes over reality

Today, food waste is responsible for 8% to 10% of GHG emissions worldwide, while too often packaging is the first to be blamed. This conference debunks the myths and preconceived ideas in packaging conveyed by social networks (perception versus reality). The eco-design of packaging is complex and has a multitude of facets. The perfect eco-responsible packaging simply does not exist, but getting closer to it is entirely possible, within everyone’s reach and desired. The aim of this conference is to inform, educate and raise awareness among businesses and consumers of the four main criteria in ecodesign in order for them to be able to make the best eco-responsible choices and actions for their business or quite simply as a citizen of the earth!

Why is packaging so important in 2024?

As we approach 2024, the impact of packaging on the environment and its perception by consumers and the food industry have become crucial issues, prompting a reassessment of commercial and regulatory practices. This roundtable, moderated by Louis Papineau of Papineau & Co., brings together experts such as Marie-Anne Verstralen of Mur Conseil, Geneviève Comeau of Les Filles Fattoush, and Jean-Francois Bourdeau of Duropac to discuss these changes. They will explore the innovative responses of their companies to environmental challenges and discuss factors influencing consumer behavior, particularly through regulation, innovation, and education. By focusing on the growing importance of packaging, this discussion will address strategies to manage costs and optimize communication in response to the demands for rapid change and increased awareness of eco-responsibility.
